SplicePreparation To prepare a splice, the lead edge of the new web is inserted into the splice unit and aligned with a running web with help of scale & laser light. The web is held by the clamp while the lead edge is trimmed.
The operator measures the actual length of the slicing tape and applies it to the edge. Then, raises the backup bar and closes the interlock door. If the splice requires the tape on both the sides, then another tape is applied on the vacuum roller.
Unwinding The unwind roll is controlled by a servo motor. E+L load cell and regulator attached to the festooner control the web tension accurately. The inertia compensation feature absorbs tension upsets and enables consistent tension control.
Automatic Web Alignment The automatic web alignment is enabled with E+L sensor that monitors the position of the running web and maintains the alignment of the running web E+L web guide components.Automatic Splicer The roll automatically stops at the diameter set by the operator while the web continues rolling in the festoon.
The splice unit functions simultaneously and detaches the expired web and pastes the tape across the splice to avoid overlap. A second tape is then applied when the splice passes through the rotary nip. Then, the roll change is initiated and the storage festoon refills automatically.
