Parksons Packaging wins the top spot at PrintWeek Awards 2024

· The industry’s premier Award event was organised by PrintWeek and WhatPackaging? magazines on 23 September 2024

· 54 print firms were awarded in 35 categories

· The Awards recognise the very best of printing, whether innovation, quality, or out-of-box approach to the medium

At the PrintWeek Awards Night on 23 September, held at the Westin Mumbai Powai Lake, a gala evening hosted by Andrea Barretto celebrated the achievements of 54 print and packaging firms and one student, who were honoured in 35 categories.

The Awards, hosted by PrintWeek and WhatPackaging? magazines, recognises the very best of printing, whether innovation, quality, or out-of-box approaches to the medium, in 35 categories across Performance, Quality, and Special Industry Awards. There are 12 Performance Awards, 18 Quality Awards and five Special Industry Awards.

This year, the Awards received more than 261 entries in different categories and more than 850 samples for the Quality Awards, with a good number of first-time submissions vying for the Prism. The winners were selected by 22 esteemed jury members who reviewed over 250 entries and examined more than 800 samples during the Jury Week for the 14th edition of the PrintWeek Awards, held from 2 to 4 September 2024, at the Autocar India Studio.

Close to 300 representatives from the print and packaging companies witnessed the Award winners take home the coveted PrintWeek Awards Prisms. Unsurprisingly, the packaging categories, including F&B, FMCG, rigid boxes, received submissions to the tune of more than 350 individual samples.

Ramu Ramanathan, editor of PrintWeek, welcomed 300+ A-Listers to the industry’s biggest Award show. Ramanathan emphasised the importance of book printing, noting that while formats may evolve, the fundamental nature and function of books have remained consistent for over 500 years, highlighting their lasting significance.

Parksons Packaging took home the top award of the night, the prestigious PrintWeek Company of the Year Award. The company’s journey to this crowning achievement began back in May 2021, when Parksons Packaging underwent a transformation following a majority stake acquisition by US-based private equity firm Warburg Pincus.

Since then, the company has been on a roll in the mono-carton space, asserting its dominance with gusto. Ramesh Kejriwal, chairperson of Parksons Packaging, accepted the accolade, stating, “This victory truly belongs to the 2,500+ superheroes in our company – they are the real MVPs.

 

” Kejriwal also underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to corporate governance, compliance, and safety measures, in addition to its groundbreaking initiatives in embracing private equity culture and spearheading merger and acquisition activities within the industry. This year, the Awards welcomed 11 first-time winners, including printers and converters from both tier-I and tier-II cities.

These were Photopark Digital Press; Archana Advertising; Casablanca Industries; Global Packaging; Renault Paper Products; Lynx Designers and Creators; Bharat Containers Nagpur; HBD Packaging; Unidos Exports; Azure Communications; and S&S Packaging. Ahmedabad-based Letra Graphix who bagged three Prisms was one of the notable winners. In total, eleven companies bagged two Prisms on the Awards Night.

These were Archana Advertising, Brilliant Printers, CDC Printers, EPL, ITC Packaging and Printing Business, Printmann Group, Replika Press, Silverpoint Press, Spectrum Scan, Thomson Press (India) and Trigon Digipack. Showcasing the industry’s dedication to innovation and standout design, joint winners were announced in 14 categories.
